TEACHING

Currently, I am a substitute teacher in numerous school districts in the southern part of New Jersey.  I am certified to teach elementary school anywhere in the state, and to substitute-teach all the way through high school.  I enjoy working with children, and am seeking permanent, full-time employment as a teacher.  Art and Language Arts, of course, are my specialties!

I am also an online tutor registered with Tutor.com (an online tutoring service).  If you’re looking for some help with a subject, I’ll be happy to accommodate you.  My fortes are: Art, Literature, Writing, Paleontology, and some Biology, Physics, Astronomy and History.  Here is the link:

Lily is contributing directly to this page!  She’s also a tutor, and she’s an incredible history expert.  Be sure to look her up if you need any help.

Below are several lesson modules Lily and I created for some courses we took at Camden County College.  These courses are for teachers and for students who are studying to become teachers.  In order for a teacher to earn credit for taking these courses, he or she must create two lesson modules (lesson plans good for a one- or two-week project) based on material covered in class during the previous few weeks.  The courses I’ve taken so far are: History of Ancient Greece, and History of America During the 50s, 60s and 70s.  Lily took a few others before I moved to the area, including History of Ancient Rome and History of Technology.

Lily: Roman Lesson: Late Roman Republic  LILYROM.html

Nick: Greek Lesson 1: Theatrical Mask (Art)  Greek Lesson 1.htm

Lily: Greek Lesson 1: Pan-Hellenic Games  LILYPHG.html

Nick: Greek Lesson 2: Creating a Myth (Language Arts)  Greek Lesson 2.html

Lily: Greek Lesson 2: Alexander’s Conquests  LILYALEX.html

Nick: 1950s Lesson: Making a ‘50s film today & vice versa  1950s Lesson.html

Lily: 1950s Lesson: Espionage in the 1950s  LILYESP.html

Nick: 1960s Lesson: Make a Psychedelic Portrait  1960s Lesson.html

NOTE: Despite my best efforts, there were formatting problems in posting these modules to this Web page.  Sheet #3 in Greek Lesson 1 is supposed to have a diagram on it.  The gremlins in this computer, however, just won’t allow that diagram to appear when the module is copied to the Web page.  (I can find absolutely no reason for this; the diagram is a JPEG, just like all the other pictures.)  Anyway, here’s the missing page:

Greek Lesson 2 posed different problems.  A footnote on Handout #4 wound up at the end of the entire module after the transfer, and Handout #6 is at the very end (because it’s horizontally oriented rather than vertical) and is slightly messed up.  It should look more like the JPEG below:

The other two modules turned out all right.

Feel free to use any or all of my lesson plans, or the information contained therein!  Just be sure to give credit where it’s due.  Plagiarism is a no-no, even from Internet sources.

Speaking of Internet sources, there are a number of Websites where you can get lesson plans.  Typing “lesson plans” into a search engine should yield some sites.  Here’s a link to an excellent source: http://www.cobblestonepub.com/index.html
